My Healthy Hair Journey

I started my hair journey 5 years ago when I had damaged my hair so much that I just needed to chop it and start over.
I had heat damage, stunted growth from hair extensions and it was over-processed from using hair dye & bleach. I had changed my hair color about five times by then, usually accompanied
by "damage-free" hair extensions.

Since the big chop of 2018, I have sworn off hair extensions, bleach, hair dye,
gone heat-free, donated all my hot tools and mostly let my hair air-dry.
The following products are part of my hair routine now and I truly believe helped get my hair the healthiest and longest it's been since I was a kid.
I'm not a hair expert, but I've done a lot of research and tried a lot of different products and these are what have worked for me.
Check back here because I'm always trying and adding new products!

I am an Amazon associate, so by using my product links it gives me a small commission, but it does NOT make the product more expensive for you. The small commission I make goes directly to funding my photography!
So thank you for helping support my art!

vioriBars.JPG

I've been using these bars since the covid lockdown in 2020, and I'm convinced they've transformed my hair. My original goal was to be more plastic-free in my life, but by pure luck, found this incredible product made of Longsheng Rice Water that has saved my hair.  I've retained length I didn't think I could get back and my hair is much stronger. Plus, plastic-free for the environment is always a win!
I use the Hidden Waterfall, but there are 4 total scents available depending on your hair type!
Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Phthalate-Free,
Plastic-Free, Zero Waste

ScalpMassager.JPG

Massaging my scalp is part of my nightly routine. I love how the soft silicone bristles feel.  I massage my scalp alone or paired with my hair growth oil. I flip my head upside-down and massage for a couple minutes each night to stimulate hair growth. Promotes blood flow and circulation. Definitely add scalp massaging into your routine!

GoddessStrength.JPG

This is my favorite leave-in cream conditioner that I have tried. It seriously makes my hair feel like butter. I put it on my freshly washed damp hair from mid-shaft through my ends, a little bit goes a long way. I have fine straight hair and I love it. It has amazing ingredients. Carol’s Daughter Goddess Strength Collection created for 4C, 4B, 4A, 3C, 3B, 2C, & 2B curl types; complete the regimen with the Sulfate Free Shampoo, Fortifying Conditioner and Scalp & Hair Oil for frizz control and curl hydration.

ricewaterbiotin.JPG

Rice water for hair in need of repair! When hair lacks protein, it misbehaves, with frizz, split ends, and hair loss. Rice water mist combats the issues, to repair your hair and soothe your scalp.

detangleSpray.JPG

This is my favorite detangle spray I have used. It's for fine & dry hair. I spray it all over my damp, freshly washed hair before applying some Carol's Daughter Cream leave-in conditioner. Those two products work miracles with tangly hair. I comb through easily with a wide tooth wooden comb.
I use the Biotin + Collagen purple bottle

biotin hair oil.JPG

I know, I know, how many products do I use!!! This is my favorite super light weight oil that you can use on damp hair, but it's so light that I can use a little bit daily on my dry ends! And I have very fine hair so it took a while to find a light enough oil to be able to use daily on my ends. They do have other great oils, but this is my favorite so far, the castor oil one is VERY heavy and sticky.

How do I get my near perfect victory rolls?
This tool...... and a lot of practice!

LottaBody.JPG

This is a concentrated formula, so use diluted for your hair type! I spray this on my hair before setting my cozy curlers at night and it is great at holding my fine hair in pinup curls!

CozyCurlers.JPG

Ok, so this isn't an Amazon item, but I just couldn't leave it off my list because this is seriously a must-have item.  This has greatly contributed to getting my hair healthy again.  I stopped using hot tools on my hair during the lockdown of 2020. Yes, it's been 3 years since I've used a curling iron or flat iron on my hair. Heat damage is terrible! Plus, it used to take me over an hour to curl my whole head with a curling iron.  Now it literally takes me 10 minutes to put these in, they are so comfy to sleep in over night, and then I do my makeup in the morning and take these out, run my fingers through my hair and it's done in under five minutes! I'll never go back to curling irons and my hair thanks me everyday. With some setting spray, my hair actually stays way better than with a curling iron. There is a learning curve to them, but once I got the hang of it, I've gotten pretty fast at it. I also use a little snoot sleep net that keeps them in place when I sleep, but it's breathable so my hair can dry still.
I use anywhere from 2-8 most of the time for a regular day, but when I want a ton of curls for a photoshoot, I use around 12-14 and really pack them in with a second set.

comb.JPG

I hope you aren't still using plastic on your hair! A wide tooth wood comb is a must for detangling.  Wooden combs & brushes disperse the natural oils from your scalp better to the rest of your hair.  Wood is anti-static and won't snag your hair. Helps relieve tension and stimulates your scalp.

TreeActiv.JPG

TreeActiv Hair Growth Daily Nourishing Spray is another great option for a fresh scented spray for damp hair or to comb in to refresh dry hair.  It has Argan Oil, Tea Tree, Vegan Keratin + Biotin.  It is a lavender volumizing thickening hair mist.

OvertoneGinger.JPG

A color depositing conditioner is the only healthy/non-damaging way to color your hair! I can't believe I used dye for so many years! Overtone is my favorite brand to use, smells great and they have a great selection of colors. It's definitely one of my main secrets to healthy hair while keeping my color vibrant!
I use a diluted Ginger with my favorite regular white conditioner for a more natural look. For a punky/bold look, use undiluted.

Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Ammonia-Free,
Bleach-Free

hair shammy.JPG

I rarely use a hair dryer, and if I do I use it on warm/cool. Never hot!
I always use this ultra-fine microfiber super soft hair shammy after I wash. It speeds up my air-drying and is much kinder on your hair than a regular towel. Loops in a regular towel, whether made of cotton or microfiber, create friction in your hair which leads to frizz, tangles, and hair breakage.
It's also magically very thin and folds up very small!

silkcap.JPG

Yes, I look like a granny when I go to bed. I'm either sleeping in my cozy curlers or a Satin night cap! Especially if I have hair oil on my scalp, I don't want to get it all over my pillows. I wear this in the day when I have a hair mask on.  Also you should start using satin scrunchies instead of rubberbands.

You don't have to cut your hair to have cute bangs!
